National Parks Requiring Reservations for Summer 2024

Hey there, fellow nature lovers! Ready to start planning your Summer road trips? Well if any of America’s national parks are on your list, here’s what you need to know: Many parks have rolled out a new timed-entry reservation system. Below I have compiled a list of which parks are hopping on the reservation train, when you’ll need ’em, and how to snag your spot in the great outdoors. So grab your hiking boots and let’s hit the trail!

Acadia National Park:

    • Dates: May 24 through Oct. 22
    • Reservation Types: Sunrise and Daytime
    • Cost: $6 per vehicle for each reservation
    • Note: Separate $35 vehicle entry fee required

    Arches National Park:

      • Dates: Through Oct. 31
      • Time: Between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
      • Cost: $2 per vehicle for timed-entry tickets
      • Note: Separate $30 vehicle entry fee required

      Glacier National Park:

        • Dates: North Fork and Going-to-the-Sun Road from the West Entrance between May 24 and Sept. 8; Many Glacier between July 1 and Sept. 8
        • Time: Between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.
        • Cost: $2 for each type of reservation
        • Note: Separate $35 vehicle entry fee required

        Haleakalā National Park:

          • Dates: Year-round for summit sunrise
          • Time: Between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m.
          • Cost: $1 per vehicle for summit sunrise reservations
          • Note: Separate $30 vehicle entry fee required

          Mount Rainier National Park:

            • Dates: Paradise Corridor from May 24 through Sept. 2; Sunrise Corridor between July 3 and Sept. 2
            • Time: Between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
            • Cost: $2 per vehicle for each type of reservation
            • Note: Separate $30 vehicle entry fee required

            Rocky Mountain National Park:

              • Dates: Between May 24 and Oct. 14
              • Time: Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
              • Cost: $2 per vehicle for most roads; Timed Entry+ for Bear Lake Road between May 24 and Oct. 20
              • Note: Separate $35 vehicle entry fee required

              Yosemite National Park:

                • Dates: Between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. on certain days
                • Peak Time: July 1 through Aug. 16
                • Cost: $2 per vehicle for peak hour reservations
                • Note: Separate $35 vehicle entry fee required

                Zion National Park:

                  • Permit System: Continuation for Angels Landing hiking trail
                  • Cost: $6 for lottery registration for up to 6 people; $3 per person for permits
                  • Note: Separate $35 vehicle entry fee required
