Here is an example on how the timing worked for the Fall 2024 show:
Where to Shop:
1. The Fields/ Warrenton
- Why: For all you bargain hunters and junk-pickers, Warrenton’s Fields are a must-stop. Here, you’ll find rows of “pickers’ paradise” with anything from quirky vintage trinkets to rustic, budget-friendly furniture pieces. It’s all about the hunt, so dig through and see what treasures you can score!
- Details: This area is open for the full three weeks
- Vibe: Laid-back, quirky, rustic. Wear comfy clothes and shoes!
2. Marburger Farm Antique Show
- Why: Marburger Farm is one of the most popular and high-end venues for antique furniture, especially if you’re looking for European pieces, unique architectural items, or one-of-a-kind treasures.
- Details: This venue is only open during the final days of the show and charges a small entry fee (around $15), but it’s worth it for the quality and selection. Designers often shop here for statement pieces, so you’ll see lots of high-end, curated furniture.
- Vibe: Upscale, carefully curated booths with some of the best selection.
3. The Compound
- Why: Another must-see for furniture, The Compound has a mix of rustic, farmhouse, and European antiques. Old World Antieks, a popular vendor here, offers a wide range of unique, high-quality furniture pieces, including French and European designs.
- Details: You’ll also find this vendor at Blue Hills, so it’s worth checking both spots.
- Vibe: Elegant, timeless pieces with a rustic edge.
4. Blue Hills
- Why: This venue features a variety of furniture styles, from farmhouse to boho-chic, with lots of vintage and rustic items. Arloom and Gather Goods are some of my personal favorite vendors here.
- Details: Blue Hills is open for a longer period, so you have more flexibility with your schedule. They have great food trucks and outdoor seating, making it a fun place to spend the day.
- Vibe: Boho and rustic, with a friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere.
5. Excess Field
- Why: If you’re on the hunt for more affordable vintage and rustic furniture, Excess has a mix of “picking fields” and moderate-priced vendors. It’s great for finding architectural pieces and quirky items that can be transformed into statement furniture pieces.
- Details: Many of the vendors here specialize in European vintage, so you’ll find unique, smaller pieces and accessories that complement your furniture.
- Vibe: Treasure hunting with lots of hidden gems for those willing to dig.
6. The Arbors
- Why: While The Arbors is known more for clothing and accessories, you can find smaller furniture pieces, including original artwork, to complement your home decor.
- Details: It’s a fun spot to mix up your shopping and find something unexpected, especially if you’re looking for decorative pieces that add character to your space.
- Vibe: Eclectic with a mix of styles, from modern to vintage.
Packing Essentials & What to Wear:
1. Comfortable Walking Shoes
With 20 miles of venues to explore, comfortable footwear is a must! Go for cushioned sneakers, supportive sandals, or stylish cowboy boots with insoles. Round Top can get dusty and uneven, so avoid shoes that will wear out quickly or be uncomfortable on different terrains.
2. Lightweight Layers
Texas weather can be unpredictable, so dressing in layers is key. Opt for a breathable t-shirt or tank, with a lightweight sweater or denim jacket to layer on as needed. Mornings can be cooler, but the afternoon sun will heat things up!
3. Boho & Western Vibes
This is where Texas meets boho chic, so let your personality shine! Think flowy dresses, embroidered tops, denim shorts, or maxi skirts paired with a statement belt or hat. Comfortable, stylish, and ready for all the vintage finds!
4. A Wide-Brimmed Hat & Sunglasses
A hat not only completes the Round Top look but also keeps the sun off your face, and a pair of sunnies will protect your eyes while you browse. You’ll find plenty of spots to shop outdoors, so these will keep you comfortable and looking great.
5. Crossbody Bag or Backpack
Hands-free shopping is the way to go. Bring a crossbody bag or small backpack to hold essentials like your phone, wallet, and sunscreen, leaving your hands free for browsing and snapping photos. Look for something sturdy, as you’ll be moving in and out of venues all day.
6. Small Rolling Cart or Large Tote
If you plan to make big buys (or lots of little ones), a small rolling cart or spacious tote will be your best friend. Many experienced Round Top shoppers bring collapsible carts to carry their haul back to the car easily.
7. Sun Protection
A high-SPF sunscreen, lip balm, and maybe even a portable fan or cooling towel will keep you feeling fresh, especially on warmer days.
8. Snacks & Refillable Water Bottle
Fuel up between stops with protein bars or nuts, and bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Though food trucks and stands are around, it’s handy to have snacks with you to keep energy high.
9. Portable Phone Charger
Between snapping pics and finding your way through the venues, your phone battery might drain quickly. Bring a small, portable charger to stay connected all day.
