10 Pros & Cons of RV Travel

RV Trips are better than hotels!

There, I said it. RV trips are better than staying in hotels. I’ve shared a video years ago about why traveling in an RV with small kids makes for the best vacations. And while I still stand by all these points, RV road trips are just more fun regardless of whether you are bringing kids or no kids.

Why are RV’s better?

RV’s are better because you have more freedom. Depending on where you are traveling, you can sleep wherever. Campgrounds, National Forest, Cracker Barrel or a Walmart parking lot. You need to pee? Just pull over and do your business. Need to make an outfit change, no problem you’ve got everything within reach.

Still not convinced? Let me break it down for you in the video below:

Pros

  1. No Airplanes
  2. You can bring your pets
  3. Park where ever you want
  4. Travel to multiple places on a budget
  5. You have a bathroom with you
  6. You have a kitchen with you
  7. All of your amenities are within reach
  8. Camp off-grid
  9. You’re not stuck in a car for nap time
  10. Bring all your belongings with you

Cons

  1. Parking can be tricky
  2. Overhead height can be a factor depending on where you are traveling
  3. RV’s can be loud
  4. Dumping the toilets
  5. You can’t go through a drive-thru
  6. Gas expense/ mileage
  7. Cost of a rental can be expensive
  8. RV parks can lack privacy
  9. You have to “clean” on vacation
  10. Beds can be uncomfortable

I don’t have an RV!

Don’t own an RV? Well lucky for you, now pretty much anyone can rent an RV. Sites like RVShare which is basically Airbnb for RV’s, have made renting an RV so easy. If you want to go the conventional route, we have used Cruise America on 3 separate occasions and always been super happy with them.

I hope you all enjoyed these basic pros and cons of RV Travel. I really hope this gives some of y’all the courage to book your first rental in the future!
