Camper Renovation on a budget | Episode 1

If you remember a few month back, I shared a post with some serious inspiration for an upcoming camper renovation. Well my friends, it’s happened! The renovation is almost complete!

One of my goals with this reno project was to document everything – and I did! In episode one, I am going to break down step by step what I did to update our camper. After watching the video, you may notice that you’ll see mostly me in this video because I decided to tackle this makeover by myself. I wanted to surprise my husband with a finished camper. He hates painting and I love it, so this was such a fun project! And the bonus of doing it alone is I got to make this camper a little more boho inspired than he probably would have liked!

I am listing my step by step guide for renovating a camper below. I am linking the products mentioned in the video here as well.

Here’s a good “before“
Masked and primed ✔️
Getting there!

Camper Checklist:

  • Step 1: Remove all curtains, blinds, vinyl pieces and outlet covers. Anything that might get in the way of painting.
  • Step 2: Fill screw holes with wood filler and sand down any uneven spots.
  • Step 3: Mask
  • Step 4: Clean Walls. I used Krud Kutter TSP Substitute
  • Step 5: Remove cabinet doors and hardware
  • Step 6: Spray paint hardware and screws. I used rustoleum paint and primer in one.
  • Step 7: Prime! I Used Zinsser stain blocking primer
  • Step 8: Peel and Stick wallpaper – I used this gorgeous one I found on amazon.
  • Step 9: Paint the camper.
  • Step 10: Peel and Stick back-splash, another fantastic amazon find that I will link here.
  • Step 11: Caulk using PAINTABLE non silicone caulk.
  • Step 12: Reupholster your RV dinette cushions.

You did an amazing job, we’re in the midst of our DIY on our old streamline trailer, it’s a lot of work but I know it’ll be worth it when we’re done!
