No Sew Camper Cushions | Episode 4

Today I am going to talk to y’all about my camper dinette! Specifically, the dinette cushions. While our 2017 Keystone Bullet was not in any need of new cushions, I really did not like the look of the brown on brown on brown. If you have been following along, we have been giving our new to us camper a face lift. One change we made that had a huge impact was recovering the camper dinette cushions!

No Sew Cushions

It’s no secret that I am not the best at sewing. So the idea of sewing new cushions for the camper was too intimidating a task to take on. Enter staples!! Yes friends, this tutorial is going to be sewing machine free. All you will need is:

  • staple gun
  • 1/4″ staples
  • fabric
  • yardstick or measuring tape
  • scissors
  • thin plywood (cut to size)

I’m going to go into great detail in the video below on how exactly I achieved the look of my cushions, as well as what fabric I used. One thing that I didn’t stress enough is that you need to really take into account the overlap of the fabric. What I mean is that you need to keep in mind how “high” your foam is in addition to how much you need to be able to staple it to the board. I cut a few pieces to short and wasted fabric. I also share how I recovered a triangular dinette cushion. I scoured the internet trying to figure this one out, so if you also have weird corner cushions in your RV, this video is for you! Tip: If you are doing this, you will need a serrated knife.

My favorite thing about these cushions is that if the fabric ever gets ruined or I don’t like this style anymore, I can change it out. I would just take out all the staples, remove the fabric and swap it out for another. I also did not mention that I used scotch guard to seal all the cushions once I was done. A very important step if you have little sticky hands traveling with you.
